i am going to indonesia - esp. lombok, bali, jakarta. need help on travel plans?

Hi I am going to Indonesia this sept for three weeks. Me and my friend are planning to go to Lombok, Bali and Jakarta. Our hotels for Bali and Jakarta and flights are all set. Hard Rock Hotel in Bali and Pan Pacific in Jakarta. But nothing yet for Lombok. My friend likes to go by plane from Jakarta to Bali and ferry boat from Bali to Lombok. I like to check on cruise ships or p enger ships from Jakarta to Bali. Thus i need suggestions for this and how long does it takes to travel by sea if we do it and the places that it will p by if there are any. I tried Pelni but their site is outdated and the phones are either not functioning or not answered. I also need suggestions for places to go and activities to do. Thanks a lot

I lived in Bali for several years, also Jakarta and have been to Lombok twice - Lombok is my favorite. Stay at Novotel Coralia Lombok, they have plenty of activities to do in the house and can arrange trips for you during your stay. I flew from Bali to Lombok it's only 30 min. By boat will take 3 hours. Try to fly instead of taking a boat, it's alot safer. You can always book a boat trip in Bali from a company called WakaExperience.com, or book sunset cruise to Nusa Lembongan. Every hotel in Bali can arrange that for you. I have stayed at Hard Rock Hotel in Bali but not impressed because it doesn't give me a taste of Bali. Very touristic in the middle of busy, dusty, Kuta. You should try to find a quite place in Legian, which is still close to Kuta but no h le. Try to go to places that are not too touristic, like Benoa, in Nusa Dua have many water sports, Legian, beautiful beach, Sanur many eclectic local eateries, Ubud for arts and North of Bali for diving, and learn about local culture

In Jakarta you can visit place called MANGGA DUA. its like a china town there. you can get cheap DVD movie and so many electronics thing too. so many foreigner in there especially Chinese China. also Malls like Senayan City, Pondok Indah Mall 1&2, Kelapa gading 1, 2&3 etc. you can even go to Hard Rock cafe
boats from bali Slow boats from Padang Bai on Bali leave about every hour for the four - to five - hour trip to Lembar Rp 25, 000. The slow ferries are a bit rusty and dusty, with minimal restroom facilities, and are used mostly by locals, with few tourists on board. Access to the p enger deck is usually from the vehicle deck via steep and narrow stairs, so maneuvering heavy luggage is a challenge. Would - be porters wait by the docks, and will happily carry your stuff for Rp 10, 000 per item. Sometimes they insist on doing so even when you do not ask. Fast ferries run from Benoa on Bali to Lembar on Lombok twice daily in season, one daily in the off season. The trip takes just 2 hours but costs US$25 / 30 depending on cl. Perama Tour also runs daily cruises from Padang Bai directly to Senggigi for Rp120, 000. places to go Tanjung Aan, a beautiful area near the Kuta Beach. The sand is very unique that it looks like pepper. Come early as the beach guards will be there by then. Otherwise you may get bugged by lots of hawkers mainly children trying to sell everything. See the local handicraft and weaving process in Desa village Sukarare. The price should be cheaper than in Sengigi shops. Narmada Park Taman Narmada. Located 10 km east of Mataram, this park was the relaxation place for king during feodalism time. This park has a Hindu temple and swimming pool. Also it has a fountain which called "Youth Fountain" which is believed to give long life to a person that drink water from the fountain. Entry fee for this park is cheap. It will cost around Rp 5000. activities to do Traditional m age. There will be a lot of women offering the m age service. For more professional service, ask the hotel staffs. Snorkeling. There are several good sites between the Gili Islands. Rates:US$35 - 45 / night including generous breakfast. Might be a good choice If travelling with children, as the resort was apparently built with children's needs in mind - with interesting swimming pool design, good playing and sport areas for kids. The resort is located approx. 1h drive from Mataram. Rates: US$66 - 77 / night. Qunci Villa, Mangsit Beach, Tel. 62 - 370 - 693800, Fax 62 - 370 - 693802, email: stay@quncivillas.com. A small resort where the staffs know and greet you by your first name. A nice medium size swimming pool which looks as if it is part of the sea. The room does not have TV, in order to 'detach' the guests from the outside world. The restaurant serve very good food at reasonable price, and dinner can be enjoyed directly on the beach. Rates: US$70 - 90. The Oberoi Lombok, Medana Beach, Tanjung West Lombok, Tel. 62 - 370 - 638444, Fax 62 - 370 - 632496, email: gm@theoberoi - lombok.com, 1. The most expensive hotel in Lombok. An ideal hideaway due to its 'secluded' area. Rates: US$270 - 952 / night discounts available
trust me on this one. when you are in jakarta, go to the sailing club. my cousins live there and when i went to visit we went to the sailing club. it was so much fun. it would probably be a good idea though to not go to the beaches there since they are filthy. full of pollution and crap like that. well have fun on your trip. i know i did. the spa there and zoo is amazing as well
I have just come back from Lombok. The main tourist area is Sengiggi, which is a bit like a Balinese tourist village, and is close to the Gilli Islands which are pretty busy at the moment. Like one of the other answerers I can recommend Quncy Villas, if you want a fairly chilled and stylish place to stay, but it depends on your budget. There are several other similar smallish places nearby in Mangsit, just North of Sengiggi. The Novotel in Kuta was full of French and Dutch families with children. It was okay, but it looks a bit like a set from the Flintstones, and is not quite up to the standard of resorts in Bali. If you go to Kuta Lombok Kuta, not Bali Kuta then definitely visit the Akari ?spelling cafe, which has to be the coolest cafe in Lombok. Senaru is worth a visit - coolish mountain scenery with tropical rainforest. The ferry from Padangbai to Lembar is okay, but flights from Denpasar to Mataram are cheap - only US$30 - 40. Once you factor in transport to and from Padangbai and Lembar, you might be better off flying, depending on where else you're going
